I think you ought to try to have a share of this bounty and I would recommend to you to see about it. To enable you to do this I enclose a certificate from Dr. Prendergast and I would suggest to you to call upon my friend Mr. Drake at the Council in Chief’s Office, and ask him to consult the Gentlemen of the War Office... . Your wound was very severe, and you owe your early recovery to a good constitution and an excellent disposition. Every one hear speaks of you in the highest terms.
