Cloth Samples.- Dyer’s account book for various cloth patterns, 2 vol., manuscript, c. 354pp. excluding blanks, with numerous cloth samples inserted, slightly browned and offset, a few loose calculations loosely inserted and a flyer issued by W.J. Norris & Brother, Calder Chemical Works: "A Great Saving to Dyers", January 1858, pencil inscription on front free endpaper: “From the Library of Prof. F.A. Wadsworth Editor of the Manchester Guardian”, original roan, rubbed, 8vo, 29th November 1855 - 10th November 1864.

The entries list various payments for the processes of dyeing cloth: "Bleachs & prepr £5"; "Blacking & preps £8"; "Crimson * £3 12s"; "Strong Acid £1 1s"; "No. 4 China Blue...5s 3d", etc.
The writer of the pencil note has confused F.A. Wadsworth with A.P. Wadsworth, sometime editor of the Manchester Guardian.
