[Le Couteux (Simon de, calligrapher, librarian of the President Bernard de Rieux, worked for the Comte d'Hyom )] Prieres Durant la Sainte Messe, calligraphic manuscript in French, title and 35pp., watercolour title in red and green, red and green initials double borders and tail-pieces, a few marks, slightly browned, the Schiff copy with red and gilt morocco label on fly-leaf, Dutch floral endpapers, original red straight-grained morocco, gilt arms of the Princesse de Soubise in centre of both covers, a few small black ink marks on upper cover, corners bumped, gilt panelled spine, g.e., housed in modern black morocco solander case by Riviere, sm. 4to, [ ?Paris, ? 1705].

Le Couteux continued the calligraphic tradition for prayer books in France at the end of the seventeenth century and beginning of the eighteenth.
