Book of Hours. - Hours of the Virgin, &c., in Dutch, decorated manuscript on vellum, 190 ff., including 3 blank except for ruling, apparently complete, gatherings mostly of 8 ff., some catch-words visible, written in black ink in a gothic liturgical hand, 18 lines, rubrics in red, one and two-line initials in red and blue throughout, 5 large initials (7 or 8-lines) in colours on burnished gold backgrounds, with full borders, mostly of foliage, but 2 including bar-borders, in colours, with gold leaves and besants, 27 pp. with 2-5 line initials in blue, decorated in red, with three-quarter border of blue and red tracery, touched with green, little trimmed at head, touching borders, some staining especially to pp. with large initials and facing blank pp., occasional marginal scribbles, modern calf, ruled in blind, front cover incorporating blind-stamped central panel from (?) original binding, brass clasps, 15 x 10 cm., Northern Netherlands, [mid-fifteenth century].
