Stuart (Charles Edward, called the Young Pretender, 1720-1788) & Henry, cardinal, styled Duke of York, 1725-1807.- Four documents relating to a grant to them by Prince James Sobieski, their grandfather, of 400,000 Rhenish florins secured on the Duchy of Ohlau (in Silesia), made in February 1737 and to be effective on his death (he died in December 1737); the transfer of the interest to the Pope and Apostolic Chamber by the princes, as they could not pursue their rights in the court at Vienna in their own names, 1739; delays caused by a counter claim to part of the assets from the Duchess de Bouillon (daughter of Sobieski) and complexities in the decrees &c., so that by 1741 arrears were accumulating, but domestic servants of the late prince were suffering etc., manuscripts, contemporary copies, in French and Italian, together 11pp., slightly browned, housed in modern cloth folders and slip-cases, 4to, [Rome & elsewhere], 23rd January 1739 - 17th September 1741; and 3 other documents relating to Jacobitism, comprising: a letter from James Watson, a Scottish Jacobite in Rome, 1731, mentioning rumours of the marriage of "the pretenders eldest son" etc; notes by A.
